The bones of the head normally move with their
own rhythm at 6 to 12 cycles per minute. This movement is transmitted, by
the tough covering
of the spinal cord, to the sacrum ... and, via the fascia, to the body beyond.
Restrictions in this movement can accompany or cause physical and emotional
unease. Restoring the native fluidity of the cranial rhyuthm is often helpful
for some specific complaints (such as headaches or TMJ) and is usually deeply
relaxing and healing for people feeling wound up or run down.
